During the parliamentary autumn session and the Federal Parliament’s public open day, GESDA will present the interactive installation "Geneva Public Portal to Anticipation" at the Federal Palace in Bern, at the invitation of President of the Council of States Stefan Engler. The installation uses generative AI to enable visitors to create and explore visions of possible futures shaped by emerging science and technology. AI is therefore not only a topic of the installation, but also the tool that makes this experience possible. The Portal creates a space for dialogue between science, politics and society: inviting visitors to reflect on what new technologies such as AI could make possible, where their limits lie, and ultimately how we can collectively shape the futures we want to live in. The installation was first displayed at the Swiss Pavilion during the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan.

«Hack Apertus» is a hackathon series built around Apertus, Switzerland's fully open large language model. Running from October 2026 to May 2027, the series kicks off online from 1–16 October, bringing hackers and student cohorts from Swiss universities together to red-team the model, localise Apertus to Swiss dialects and values, and build early prototypes.
In the 6+ on-site hackathons across Switzerland that follow, teams solve challenges from partners and develop open, trustworthy blueprints for sovereign infrastructure across the public and private sectors. Top teams advance to the Grand Finals on 14 May 2027 in St.Gallen to compete for the main «Hack Apertus» Award, while other exceptional Apertus-based projects will be showcased.
All outputs and prototypes are open-sourced, and their deployment in real-world settings is actively supported to drive Apertus adoption.

The 3rd Edition of the Cameroon Artificial Intelligence Days (JCIA 2027) will take place on 27–28 April 2027 in Yaoundé under the theme “Artificial Intelligence Designed in Cameroon, Serving the World.”
The event will bring together government representatives, diplomatic missions, international organizations, private-sector leaders, researchers, startups, investors and young AI talents to showcase Cameroon’s AI ecosystem and strengthen its connections with the international community.
Through high-level conferences, an AI exhibition, masterclasses, startup pitches, business meetings and dedicated forums, JCIA 2027 will address key issues including responsible AI governance, digital sovereignty, innovation, capacity building and the development of locally designed AI solutions. The event will also contribute to preparing and promoting Cameroon’s AI ecosystem on the international stage ahead of major global AI gatherings.

Building on the first edition held in 2026, the Forum will focus on moving from regulatory interoperability to practical implementation, addressing key issues such as cross-border AI governance, digital sovereignty, regulatory cooperation and the impact of AI regulation on global trade and innovation.
Through high-level discussions and practical exchanges, the Forum aims to strengthen international cooperation and contribute to a more interoperable, trusted and inclusive global AI governance framework.

The discussion will focus on the Geneva AI Summit 2027 and its implications for States, providing a space to identify and exchange on the key risks, opportunities and strategic challenges associated with the rapid development of artificial intelligence.
The session will explore how States can prepare for and respond to emerging AI governance challenges, while also leveraging AI as an opportunity for economic development, innovation, international cooperation and capacity building. Particular attention will be given to questions of AI sovereignty, regulation, trust, security and international coordination, as well as the role that Geneva can play as a global platform for dialogue on AI governance.
The objective is also to better understand the priorities, concerns and expectations of diplomatic missions and their respective countries ahead of the Geneva AI Summit 2027, and to encourage an open dialogue on how States can actively contribute to shaping the international AI governance agenda.
